How do you keep away from malware on web hosting, if you’re on GoDaddy?
Reiko Mizuno asked:
I’m trying to decide if i should switch hosting due to the enormous amount of BAD ratings about Go Daddy or just stay put. My website still has all this information: What is the current listing status for osharecurry.com?
This site is not currently listed as suspicious.
What happened when Google visited this site?
Of the 13 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 0 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2009-10-02, and suspicious content was never found on this site within the past 90 days.
This site was hosted on 1 network(s) including AS26496 (PAH).
Has this site acted as an intermediary resulting in further distribution of malware?
Over the past 90 days, osharecurry.com did not appear to function as an intermediary for the infection of any sites.
AND I STILL Don’t understand how it got there, how it got infected or why!!!! I don’t download malicious 3rd party plug ins, because i get them straight from the supported websites! I used to host word press for this , and recently have been in contact with tech support to find out i can’t delete several directories or other crappy things cause i’m infected with malware!
X___X PLEASE HELP!

The host is irrelevant.
If you have an ad service, or an insecure site, changing hosts is not going to do anything.
Also, for your personal machine, malware prevention is as simple as running IE and add-ons as a separate user and denying that user execute permission for the local settings folders.
EDIT: Also, GoDaddy gets alot of bad press simply due to its size. More malware is going to be hosted on it compared to other hosts, until you look at percentages. Not to mention, GoDaddy’s sister site, Wild West Domains was a long time favorite of spammers and less than legitimate sites.
Hello,
Visions is exactly right. Switching hosts isn’t going to change the content on your site. If you have malicious content on your site it will still be malicious even if you switch to another host.

I found a huge online list of personal website hosting services. Locating a nearby webhosting company might have advantages because you can visit their facility if needed.
Simply don’t upload any files with virus. Or keep checking your site regularly.
